Australian Broadcasting Corporation: Tasmanian scientists say melting polar ice is now the main cause of rising sea levels. Ten years of peer-reviewed research has been compiled by scientists at the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Co-operative Research Centre in Hobart. The report says melting polar ice is now contributing twice as much to rising sea levels as thermal expansion caused by ocean warming.
